EVENT DETAILS...

Registration:

  • $40.00 per player, plus cost of games (prices are shown on the games list linked below).

  • Due to the limited space and tight confines of LCP, this tournament will be capped at a maximum of 64 players.

  • If you would like to participate, please sign up at the PAPA blog spot.

Schedule:

Friday, May 22: LCP business hours are 3:00-11:00pm

  • Practice and last-minute registration.

  • 9-hole pingolf tourney on Friday night.

    • Note: You don't have to play in the pingolf to be eligible for the weekend Main tourney.

Saturday, May 23: LCP business hours are 3:00-11:00pm

  • 9:00am: Check-in and warmup

  • 9:30am-12:30pm: Round 1 (played in 2 separate shifts)

  • 12:30pm-3:30pm: Round 2 (played in 2 separate shifts)

  • 3:30pm-6:30pm: Round 3 (played in 2 separate shifts)

  • 6:30pm-9:00pm: Any playoffs and round of 32 on winners side

  • 9:00pm-11:30pm+: Losers side round of 16; winners side round of 16

Note: Since all the groups during the day will be pre-assigned, you will know when your shift is not playing and there will be time to eat lunch and dinner during these times (there are many options within walking distance from LCP in Lyons, and the always excellent Oskar Blues Brew Pub is literally next door).

3 rounds of 4-player groups playing games from all eras for seeding into a head-to-head match play, double elimination bracket finals. Note that we will not reseed groups based upon the results from the previous round, but rather randomly set up all 3 rounds ahead of time to ensure 9 unique opponents, 9 unique games and a reasonable WPPR-ranked distribution for all players.

For the head-to-head finals, matches on the losers side will be best 2-out-of-3; matches on the winners side will be best 2-out-of-3 for the round of 32, and then best 3-out-of-5 from then on. The higher seed will have choice of game or order for game 1 and from then on; the loser of the previous game will have first choice. The top 16 players from the group phase will start match play with one "loss" on the losers side of the bracket.

Because LCP has such a great variety of games, the caveat in head-to-head play will be that you can only choose a game once all weekend. You may play a game more than once, but you can only choose it once yourself.

If we get behind or things are taking longer than expected, we may only do 2 rounds of 3 games, or even 3 rounds with only 2 games in the last couple of rounds, but LCP has an excellent assortment of EMs, SS, DMDs and new Sterns, so there will plenty of variety for everyone.

Pinball Games:

  • LCP public gameroom: Check this link for a current list of games. Games change frequently so consult this list for the most up-to-date information.

  • Special tourney games: 10-12 additional games will be set up in the basement of LCP for this tournament.

  • Baby Pac-Man, Hercules and Joust will not be used in the tournament.

Parking: Lyons is a small town and parking is limited, so carpooling is recommended. Refer to map for parking suggestions:  Lyons Map

Other: Lyons Classic Pinball is a public arcade and not a very large place, yet it contains a very large number of excellent pinball machines. So, please prepare yourself for a "Location Pin" experience all weekend long. It will be crowded.
